Jeremy Lovell is a process instrumentation manufacturer representative and president and owner of I & C Sales North, Inc in Southgate, Michigan. He specializes in industrial process monitoring applications, working with engineers and plant personnel to match the right instrumentation to challenging measurement applications across chemical, oil and gas, water & wastewater, power, automotive, pharmaceutical, OEM , and landfill operations. Jeremy holds a bachelor’s degree from Eastern Michigan University and has spent most of his career with I & C Sales North, beginning as an application engineer and advancing to Southeast Michigan account manager before taking ownership of the company in 2019. He is a member of the Measurement Controls and Automation Association(MCAA), a board member of the AWWA Joint Expo, and a board member for the ESD Solid Waste Expo. Under his leadership, the company has expanded from 12 product lines to 18, broadening the range of applications the team can solve for the most critical industrial processes.

Areas of Expertise

Jeremy’s technical focus centers on process monitoring applications where accuracy, reliability, and repeatability carry real operational benefits:

  • Gas and flame detection for EV batteries — monitoring for battery manufacturing and storage environments
  • Industrial flow meters — flow measurement for chemical, oil and gas, and water and wastewater processes
  • Vibration monitoring — condition monitoring of industrial rotating equipment
  • Complete landfill process solutions — end-to-end instrumentation for landfill gas and leachate systems
  • Non-contact temperature measurement — infrared pyrometry and thermography measurement of glass, steel, and non-metallics
  • Intrinsically safe solutions — instrumentation and barriers for hazardous-rated environments

A Career Built From the Application Side

Jeremy’s path through I & C Sales North gave him an diverse and complete view of the business. He started as an application engineer, the role responsible for answering technical product questions, visiting customers sites to walk down equipment and processes and working through the specifics of what a customer actually needs in a solution to ensure we are solving the problem and making the measurement. That foundation shaped how he approaches every opportunity today, since the right instrument depends far more on process conditions, media, and installation constraints than on a spec sheet comparison. He then spent fifteen years as the Southeast Michigan account manager, building direct relationships with plants and engineering firms throughout the region and seeing how instrumentation performs over years of service rather than at commissioning alone. In 2019, he became president and owner. That combination of technical depth and long-term account experience is why customers bring him applications that others have struggled to solve.

Leadership and Industry Involvement

Since taking ownership, Jeremy has grown I & C Sales North’s line card from 12 manufacturers to 18, a deliberate expansion aimed at closing gaps in what the team could offer rather than adding products for their own sake. The company represents Tier 1 instrumentation manufacturers and has held many of those relationships for more than 30 years, which gives Jeremy leverage on both technical support and delivery timelines when a customer has equipment down. Outside the company, he stays connected to the industries he serves through active board and association roles:

  • Member, Measurement Controls and Automation Association (MCAA)
  • Board member, AWWA Joint Expo
  • Board member, ESD Solid Waste Expo

These commitments keep him in regular contact with the various industries such as power, pharmacuetical, oil & gas, refinery, water, wastewater, and solid waste sectors that make up a significant share of the company’s work, and they inform the solutions I & C Sales North brings to market.

How Jeremy Approaches an Application

Jeremy’s process starts with a full review of the customer’s current application before any product is recommended. That means understanding process media, temperature and pressure ranges, area classification, accuracy requirements, and how the measurement feeds into the broader control system. From there, his team presents a selection of options rather than a single answer, so the customer can weigh accuracy, performance, reliability, and repeatability against budget and lead time. He treats urgency as part of the specification itself, which is why the company partners specifically with suppliers that deliver on schedule. Support continues past the purchase order through start-up and commissioning, factory and field training, and local N.I.S.T. and ISO calibration and repair services. Customers can reach the team through the request a meeting page to walk through an application in detail.

Outside the Plant

Jeremy describes himself as a self-proclaimed instrumentation nerd, which is less a joke than an accurate summary of someone who has spent an entire career in process measurement and still finds new applications interesting. Away from work, he and his wife are celebrating their 20th wedding anniversary this year, and they stay busy with three teenagers. He is a Discovery Channel viewer with a preference for Gold Rush and The Curse of Oak Island, and he spends time camping with family and friends. You can connect with Jeremy on LinkedIn.
